Position: Journalist & Youth Consultant
This is a role for a smart, innovative, and outgoing high school student from Norfolk County who is interested in reporting on news, culture, and events in southwestern Ontario, as well as working with our consulting team to help reinvent urban & rural areas around the region. We can say confidently that there is no other job like this for high school students in the area! Take a chance, apply, and come find out how we cover events and make projects happen by involving teenagers directly in the decision-making process …
What do you need to succeed in this position? First, we are looking for an individual who is willing to dive right in and join our team -- we thrive on spontaneity and having fun every day! Second, our ideal candidate feels comfortable on-camera, enjoys writing articles, and loves to meet new people. Third – and most important – we are looking for someone who is passionate about … something. You might love art, music, sports, politics, food, theatre, film or video games – whatever the case may be, we will give you the opportunity to explore what you love to do and share that with our growing audience.
The next steps are simple: just send an email to our owner & editor, Andrew Gunn, at firstname.lastname@example.org … attach your resumé (don’t worry, we know that your work experience will be limited), and add a letter explaining what you love to do and why you think that you would be a great fit for young & free press. We will contact you for an interview and set up a time to meet … Andrew will lead the interviews along with Maddie King, who focusses on Youth Engagement & Strategy for our company.
Rate of pay: $15 / hour.
Deadline for Applications: Wednesday, October 16th, 5pm.
